Collective Energy.’ Skate the Bronx is a collaboration of seven Bronx-based artists, Patricia Cazorla, Nancy Saleme, Elena Bouza, Xavier Figueroa, Valarie Irizarry, Melissa Calderon and Jeanine Alfieri, each with diverse backgrounds and specialties featured in a large scale, outdoor installation presented on the front lawn of The Andrew Freedman, the palatial mansion on the Grand Concourse. The installation coincides with NYCxDesign, the Frieze Art Fair located on Randall’s Island and Bronx VVeek 2013. The aim is to incorporate Fine Art, Technology and Design.
The functional skateboard installation is 6000 square feet and a product of one grand idea. “Using the skills and talents of our featured artists, we’ve created an expansive work that reflects the power of collaboration, while showcasing the unique abilities of these extraordinary artists,” Alfieri says. Collective Energy.’ Skate the Bronx vibrantly displays what is possible when we tap the creative energy of this amazing borough.
The installation is open for skating or viewing May 9th – August 31st, 10am -6pm.
